Abstract

We seek to understand the possibility of thinking about agroecological theories and practices as vectors of promotion of food sovereignty in the territories. We understand that agroecology, articulated with the education of the countryside, presents a bias of respect for the peasant and his traditional knowledge. We conducted field activities at the Centro Saber School in the municipality of Barra Mansa - RJ and in producing sites in the districts of Nossa Senhora do Amparo and Floriano. The proposal to present agroecology through field education has proven to be highly feasible, helping a comprehensive human formation perspective, not only for children, but also for their families. In this sense, it is understood that the rural education practiced in consonance with agroecological practices can promote social, economic, cultural, political and environmental issues that respect and value the rural way of life.
