Youth, counter-tendencies and sovereignty building
Keywords:
agroecology, territory, project, autonomy, micropoliticsAbstract
The paper addresses the youth concept in two senses. The first refers to a social movement
that appeals to new forms of organization in order to influence the territory. The second alludes
to people with a generational characteristic, situated in a historical context and placed facing
their reality. The objective is to highlight the emergence of organizational forms that propose
potential ruptures to the hegemonic conceptions and allow to project another reality for youths
in rural spaces. An approximation to some analytical elements that could be placed within the
so-called epistemology of the south is made. The conclusion is that categories such as project,
autonomy, indeterminacy or micropolitics, open inquiry fields which are pertinent to the
understanding of these processes and to the strengthening of territories sovereignty struggles.
Finally, the central characteristics of the process of access and land management of a group
of youths in Uruguay are presented.
