Abstract

The sustainability of agriculture is based on the use of local resources. The objective of this research was to propose the preparation of substrate from organic compost of bush-pasture (Senna obtusifolia L.) and goat manure enriched with vegetal ash. The compound was obtained by the composting method with stirring (aerobic). At 70 days after the assembly of the pile the compound was placed to dry, sieved and withdrawn sample for physicochemical characterization. Vegetable ash from a brick factory in the municipality of Cocal-PI was collected for chemical analysis. Based on the results of the chemical analyzes of the compound and the ash, the proportion of the mixture for the preparation of the substrate was suggested. The compound presented good physico-chemical characteristics to be used as substrate. Regarding nutritional enrichment with ash, it is recommended to add up to 5%, depending on the availability of this material in the property.
