Abstract

The seed bank was founded in the regional management of the IPA of Serra Talhada-PE, with the initiative of the team of extensionists in partnership with farmers and family members and trainees of the course of Agronomy of UFRPE / UAST. Through collective mobilization, seeds were obtained from the backlands of Pajeú - PE, as well as donations from farmers. With the purpose of promoting a demonstrative unit in a didactic way the environmental preservation, with the responsibility of rescuing the varieties of species that fulfill several functions within the agroecosystems. The seeds were cleaned, dried and stored in glass panes and colorless plastic containers of various volumes. They were cataloged according to the main botanical and morphological characteristics. In 45 days, 63 specimens were collected, highlighting a wide diversity of species and agricultural and non - agricultural varieties native to the caatinga and exotic biomes.
