The importance of EMA for the farmers of the State of Maranhão

Abstract

This work presents the results of a research carried out with small farmers who participated in the III Maranhense Meeting of Agroecology - EMA, fulfilled during the period from March 01 to 03, 2018. The main objective is to know the importance of EMA to farmers of the state of Maranhão. For this, interviews were conducted with 48 farmers. Subsequent to this process, data analysis was started using quantitative and qualitative methods. From the research, it was possible to understand the EMA's contributions to the farmers, since in addition to enabling an exchange of experiences in agroecology, the union between the peoples was strengthened and contributed to the improvement of family production, from the dissemination of production methods and techniques to the farmers, with de goal to reduce environmental and social impacts.
