Abstract

This work aims to present the experience of the participatory research conducted in partnership with UFMA, through the NEA Mearim with the Ferreira family, residing in Sitio Jaçanã, municipality of Bacabal-MA. An experiment was set up with two alternatives of raised beds, and three forms of auxiliary drainage, with materials from the region, to minimize loss of coriander culture during the rainy season. The experiment was divided into UEs with six treatments: Bamboo sides or babassu straw, where each one counted on three forms of auxiliary drainage (cracked bamboo, whole bamboo and without auxiliary drainage). With the use of raised beds, it was observed in general, the coriander culture reached a good development, without many losses. The Ferreira family considered that the treatments that used systems of auxiliary drainage with cracked bamboo and whole bamboo, were those that reached greater development of the culture, and made sure to guarantee the production of coriander in the rainy season.
