Abstract

The family farming has an important role in the food production of the Brazilian population, but,
there some difficulties, such as the temporary scarcity of water in the semiarid region, hinders
conventional productive sustainability. The technologies social with agroecological principles
are important for the living with the Semiarid. In this context, the present experiment had as
objective to build and share knowledge about the economic garden, established in the Settlement
Carnaúba do Ajudante, Municipality of Serra Talhada, Territory of Pajeú - PE. The methodology
used was based methods in technical demonstration and field day. The construction
of the economic garden resulted in the expansion of agroecological strategies, because it uses
less water and less space in the property. And it provided the integration of knowledge among
farmers, students and teachers, ratifying the importance of the university’s approach to rural
communities.
