Experience and agroecological practices: an account of experience in technical assistance and rural extension in municipalities if the Bahian Recôncavo

Agroecology is a multidisciplinary science, whose principles provide the construction of ecologically
based farming styles, focused on the development of sustainable rural development
strategies. In this context, the objective is to report the experience of the agroecological experiences
and practices in technical assistance and rural extension (ATER), presenting the reality
of the family farmers in the rural communities of the Municipalities of the Recôncavo of Bahia to
strengthen family farming. The experience in agroecological practices was carried out between
October 2016 and January 2017, promoted by the Association of Cooperatives to Support
the Family Economy - ASCOOB, in partnership with the Federal University of Recôncavo da
Bahia - UFRB, developed and operated in the area Of Technical Assistance and Rural Extension
(ATER), in Municipalities of the Recôncavo of Bahia. The experience was divided in three
distinct stages, the first one being a qualification in the specific areas of the stage. Covering
from the history, mission, vision, affiliated cooperatives, area of activity of the cooperative and
activities to be developed during the internship period. Then socialization with farmers and, finally, the monitoring of technical assistance and rural extension to farmers. However, the technical
agent at ATER plays a very important role for the farmers in the process of public calls,
opening the way for the promotion of rural development and family agriculture.
