Abstract

The management of insect pests with the use of alternative control methods, specifically the vegetal extracts, has been studied. The objective of this research was to investigate the insecticidal potential of the Annonaceae family as an alternative control tactic for the integrated management of the diamondback, Plutella xylostella (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae). The objective of this study was to evaluate the ethanolic extract of A. mucosa Jacq (Annonaceae), to estimate the lethal concentrations (LC50 and LC99) and to evaluate the insecticidal activity in the larval stages. The estimation of LC50 and LC99 was determined using the Bliss formula (1934) performed by Probit analysis. For A. mucosa the LC50 and LC99 of the ethanolic extract of A. mucosa (EEAM) estimated were 51.64 and 616.2 μL.mL-1, respectively; LC99 has efficiency effects in the 1st instar larval stage; LC50 has efficiency in the 1st instar larval stage. It was concluded that specie of A. mucosa present insecticidal action for the control of P. xylostella.
