National Policy on Agroecology and Organic Production: the construction of meanings surrounding national guidelines by the Forqueta Ecological Farmers Group, Arroio do Meio, RS, Brazil
Keywords:
organic production, participatory methodology, perceptions, public policyAbstract
Agroecology brings to the light millennial means of production, regarded as traditional, replaced
over time by models guided by a logic that aimed at maximizing production and economic
efficiency and which proved to be unsustainable, although still constituting itself in the hegemonic
model. Breaking up with such a model will only be possible if opportunities are created to
give voice to those who have been silenced throughout history, among them agro-ecologists.
Therefore, it is sought to verify the meanings built around the National Policy of Agroecology
and Organic Production (Decree No. 7.794 of 2012) by a Group of Ecological Farmers of the
municipality of Arroio do Meio, RS, Brazil. The method used is qualitative. As for the purposes,
the research is descriptive, explanatory and has an interventionist character. The interest is to
understand the relationship of the informants with the research themes, their forms of symbolization
and interpretation.
