Demands and Perspectives of rural youth for actions of ATER in the municipality of Floresta in the sertão of Pernambuco

Rural young people have always been the target of Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (ATER) activities, although they are only observed as agricultural successors and considered in the guidelines given to the family leader. The objective of this study was to identify and analyze the demands and perspectives of rural youth in relation to ATER actions of the Agronomic Institute of Pernambuco (IPA) in the municipality of Floresta-PE. The research locus, characterized as qualitative, consisted of five communities served by the IPA. As methodological tools were used: bibliographic research; data collection through semi-structured interviews with young people aged 18 to 29 years; and systematization of the data obtained. Finally, it was possible to understand that ATER should no longer regard young people only as beneficiaries. Instigating the participation of the youth from the elaboration of public policies, and valuing it as protagonist of the processes of local development.
