Effects of the Food Acquisition Program (PAA) on socio-welfare institutions in the years 2011-2014 in the municipality of Monteiro-PB

Abstract

The objective of this study is to identify the effects of PAA in socio-welfare institutions in the
years 2011-2014 in the city of Monteiro-PB. The information was collected through questionnaires
with representatives of the institutions and with a nutritionist from the municipality. It was
found that the PAA presented positive and negative points, such as the improvement of the
institutions’ relationship with the population, reduction in meal costs, increase of meals, as well
as disruption in the supply of products and waste. From the findings, it is concluded that the
program has limitations that directly affect the institutions and consumers served.
