Abstract

Paraná is the state with the largest number of organic producers in the country. Organic production, in addition to respecting environmental legislation and not using synthetic agrochemicals, needs to bring economic responses to the farmer. The objective of this work was to compare the profitability of conventional grain production field and organic grape field, in family farming in Marechal Cândido Rondon - PR, accompanied by the Paraná More Organic Program. From the calculation of production costs, gross revenue and net revenue, it was possible to verify that the grape has a profitability 9,5% higher than the production of grains. This result indicates that, in fact, diversification of production and organic certification may bring a higher profitability to the family farmer than conventional agriculture, but it is necessary to consider the availability of family labor and the contribution of other costs, such as hiring and intensive use of machinery.
