Abstract

This report aims at exposing the experience of the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension
- ATER through the capacities carried out in the settlements Lyndolpho Silva and Nossa Senhora
de Fátima, both located in the municipality of Petrolina-PE. ATER is a service non-formal
education, continuous character, in rural áreas, that promotes management processing,
production, processing and marketing agricultural and non-agricultural activities and services,
including agroextractive, forestry and artisanal activities. Capacity building has used agroecology
as a strategy for sustainable development, obtaining as main results the reduction of
the cost of production, improving the quality of life and income generation through the sale of
over. With this experience it was possible to the importance of ATER for the dissemination of
agroecological knowledge which can contribute both to the improvement of the quality of life
and to the income of these families.
