Abstract

The objective of this work was to characterize the biodiversity of an agroforestry system (SAF) installed in the farm of the Lermen Family, in the locality Paus Doias (Exu-PE, Brazil), describing the SAF planning process and biodiversity assessment. A total of 101 species, 3,026 individuals, were identified and quantified, with Shanon biodiversity index ranging from 1.0066 to 1.24197. The SAF, of 130.34 m², is in an initial stage of development and will meet the objectives defined in the planning: biomass, food production, essential oils and wood. The family nucleus is effectively contributing to the conservation of biodiversity through diversification of production, without giving up food security and income generation through commercialization of part of the production.
