In the last decades, discussions on Community and Family Forestry Management have gained
space as an important economic alternative for rural communities. The report proposes to present
an ongoing experience of the situation involving the participation of women in rural associations
in the process of implementing a Sustainable Forest Management Plan (PMFS) in the
Extractive Reserve (ResEx) Verde para Sempre. The methodology is composed by literature
review on topics related to studies on: women, family, work, agroecology, forest management
among others necessary to reflect the situation observed in the field. The results point to the
importance of strengthening strategies that promote the integration of women in the forest
theme, such as broadening the approach from the conception of “agroecological knowledge”.
