Assistance to the agroecological transition of farms in the Laguna del Cisne Basin, Canelones

Abstract

The intention of the following document is to share the first results of the work carried out by
the Rural Development Agency of the Government of the Canelones Department in the Laguna
del Cisne Basin from the of the cautionary actions for the protection of water quality, its
inhabitants, and the preservation of ecosystemic services it provides. The analysis of the first
year of implementation of the project to support the agroecological transtion shows that it is
possible to bring about productive reconversion processes from public policies, responding
to the demands produced by social and environmental conflicts under the idea proposed by
agroecology from the political, social, environmental and productive point of view.
