The strengthening of the agroecology based on the organization and methodology of the 2nd National Conference of Ater

Between the years of 2015 and 2016, the Ministry of Agrarian Development (MDA) and the National
Council for Rural Development Sustainable (CONDRAF) conducted the process of the
2nd National Conference on Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (CNATER). Working
on the motto “Ater, agroecology and healthy food”, the 2nd CNATER aimed to show the role of
Technical Assistance and Rural Extension as a promoter of the agroecological transition and,
consequently, the improvement of the quality of food consumed in the country. The Conference
had territorial, state, thematic and national stages, involving 40,947 people and 10 different
methodologies for its realization. This article presents, in general terms, the flow of the Conference
and the methodological thread used in its national stage, that aimed to guarantee the
plurality of speeches and propositions, with special emphasis on the agendas of women, youth
and traditional peoples and communities.
