Justifications on community farms: the CSA as an alternative
Keywords:
Family farming, Associative economy, CSA, Theory of JustificationsAbstract
Conventional agriculture has been identified as one of the activities that contributes most to the
current negative impacts. In the world, socioeconomic relations are established according to an
order of values, in which market and industrial justifications have great acceptance and legitimacy.
In this context, contestation movements of this order emerge seeking legitimacy with a view
to deep socio-environmental transformations. This is how the CSAs (Community Supported
Agriculture) multiply, representing an innovative experience of associativism, bringing together
consumers and farmers. Its growth is exponential in Brazil and in the world. It searches a new
structure of socioeconomic relationship, based on the revaluation of agroecological agriculture.
This essay is part of a master’s research and aims to show the principles of justice mobilized by
this initiative in order to broaden the debate surrounding the CSA in the country.
