Abstract

The evaluation of soil quality through alternative technologies such as Pfeiffer's chromatography is of utmost importance for the diagnosis and monitoring of soil health in different systems of agricultural use. Therefore, the objective of the proposal was to evaluate the soil health through Pfeiffer soil Chromatography of three agricultural subsystems and forest ecosystem inserted in an agroecosystem in agroecological transition. The work was carried out in three subsystems of the agriculture sector and in the forest of the Center of Human, Social and Agrarian Sciences, of the Federal University of Paraíba, Campus III, Bananeiras - PB. Soil samples were collected from 0 to 20 cm with the aid of a hoeing of three subsystems: two SAFs, one area of conventional use and the Mata ecosystem as a reference for sustainability. Samples composed of soils from 0 to 20 cm were collected in the field and taken to the Agroecology Laboratory (ASDA-CCHSA-UFPB) for the practice of Chromatography. For the CSP analysis, qualitative categories were used, observing their zones, colors and forms, expressed through semaphores with different colors and captions. The analysis of the chromatograms of the different subsystems evaluated showed variances among the evaluated units. According to the traffic lights, the Mata ecosystem presented excellent health and soil quality by the CSP method. SAFs obtained good soil quality by coloring the traffic lights. The chromatogram of the conventional area obtained a deficiency to the health of the soil, with red color of the semaphores. It is concluded that Pfeiffer's Chromatography is a technique that can be used for qualitative assessment of the soil of both natural ecosystems and different systems of land use.
