Women and agroecology: studies of experiences and strategies of appropriation, dissemination and empowerment in the Internet
Keywords:
peasant woman, feminism, new communication technologiesAbstract
This paperwork has investigated how the Movimento de Mulheres Camponesas (MMC) uses
and appropriates the internet, analyzing how the articulation and dissemination of ideas in the
virtual space are carried out, as well as which mobilization and visibility actions are promoted.
Master’s research also reflects on the potential of Agroecology in women’s empowerment
processes, while at the same time consolidating the claim that “Without Feminism there is no
Agroecology.” Besides, we observe the potential of virtual space as an environment for the
exchange of experiences among rural women, as well as the dissemination of their traditional
knowledge, their experiences and proposals, actions, struggles and achievements. We also
inquire about the reasons that led them to enter this virtual space, their goals and desires with
these technologies, and the difficulties faced in this process. As theoretical-methodological
references, we approach feminist epistemologies, agroecology and peasant feminism, and
studies on gender and information and communication technologies
