Abstract

Erythrina velutina Willd. is a species resistant and resistant to drought, besides great potential for reforestation in the Semiarid. In this way, the objective was to evaluate the biometric characteristics of E. velutina seeds from different matrices of the semi-arid region of Paraiba. The seeds were collected in 5 matrix plants located in the municipality of burned. The water content and the weight of one thousand seeds and biometric characteristics were determined: Length, width and thickness. The water content varied between 3.11 and 5.26% among the parent plants. The seedlings 2 obtained the highest weight of one thousand seeds, already in relation to the length the seedlings 1, 2, 3 and 5 had a higher frequency of distribution in the range of 13 to 14.99 mm. The thickness and width obtained a higher frequency of distribution in the range of 7 to 8.99. The seeds of E. velutina present different dimensions, weight and water content depending on the collection matrix, with matrix means 5.
