Abstract

The cultivation of the pitaya in a system of organic and agroecological production in the generation of income for family agriculture in coexistence with the semi-arid. The objective of this work was to evaluate the correlation of climatic factors with the growth of species of pitaya, in subcopia of native vegetation, under cover of sombrite with 50% interception of sunlight and in full sunshine regime, in a characteristic climate of semiarid. The environmental conditions in the drought season intensified, coinciding with greater thermal amplitude, a decrease in cloudiness and an increase in sunshine, during which period there was a lower monthly growth of the pitaya, whose values were correlated with the climatic factors and the Pearson coefficients (r) submitted to 1% and 5% significance. It was inferred that the mean temperature did not significantly influence the initial growth of pitaya species, there was a significant positive correlation between cloudiness and precipitation, and negative with sunshine and high temperatures. It is concluded that for the establishment of area of cultivation of the pitaya in the semiarid it is essential shading, artificial or in agro-ecological system biodiverse.
