Abstract

The present work analyzes how the intersection between gender and social class are decisive
for understanding the political participation of women in the spaces of rural unions .The trade
union movement plays an important role in the struggle for farmer’s right, however, these
spaces were historically dominated by men in Brazil. Even with the introduction of a minimum
quota of 30% of female participation in rural unions in the 1990s, the presence of women is still
a challenge marked by patriarchal relations of power and inequality
