Abstract

 Agroecology In addition to the cultivation methods in harmony with nature, values the importance of intrinsic ancestral knowledge in family farming and in popular learning. In view of this axis of agroecology, this report brings the experience experienced by undergraduate students in Agronomy, who visited the property of his Mr Saulo and Mrs Rita, a couple of farmers in the rural area of Viçosa-MG, who are guardians of a beautiful Backyard of medicinal plants, non-conventional food plants (PANC's), and a wide variety of fruit trees. The richness of the diversity of the backyard visited impressed, there are many things planted in limited space, in an organized way and with good productivity. It can also be noted that the political/social formation of farmers says a lot about the way of producing and marketing their products. In addition, it was evidenced the efficiency of natural treatments, with the use of medicinal plants and alternative treatments.
