Abstract

In the last years there was an increase in the production of organic products based on agroecological
fundaments produced by women. Considering this statement, the purpose of this study
is to investigate the profile of rural women that run organic-related ventures, their motivation
in starting such business and how satisfied they are with the initiative. To accomplish such goals
the use of qualitative methodology was the chosen one. This study targets six women who
produce and commercialize organic products. Semiestructural interviews and observation are
the chosen instruments for data collection. Data analysis was made descriptively. As a result it
was observed that rural woman look forward found new venture creation for three reasons: to
contribute to the family’s monthly income, to maintain the family with the job and also thinking
about women independence.
