Women from the settlement of Vergel, Mogi Mirim (SP): Brief history and construction of sustainability indicators

Abstract

In order to evaluate the agroecological transition process in the Vergel Rural Settlement, located
in the municipality of Mogi Mirim (SP), field studies were carried out to collect socioeconomic
and environmental information, which served as a base tool to discuss the reality of a
settlement family. After a participatory diagnosis, sustainability indicators were constructed in
relation to the local reality, evaluated in the field and discussed with the family and pointed out
the critical points, which can subsidize the rural extension work in order to indicate the way to
the process of transition to agroecological systems.
