Rural women from southeastern Pará. Between agroecological knowledge and resistance strategies

Abstract

The work was carried out during a research stay in the Postgraduate Program in Socio-Cultural
Dynamics in the Amazon “PDTSA of UNIFESSPA. Its objective focused on understanding the
collective experience of the Productive Group of rural women in the Agroextractivist Settlement
Praialta de Piranheira, municipality of Nova Ipixuna. The study has its support on the Agroecology
and the Solidarity Economy as an expression of resistance to the dominant model in
production, and their involvement in women’s lifes. It is shown that the strategies designed to
favor the way to alter the hierarchical structures in the gender relations, in the same measure
that they express resistance to the cattle model and other agents aggressors of the forest. The
methodology of data collection emerged from the ethnographic position assumed during the
fieldwork that valued the direct contact with the daily life lived by the group.
