Abstract

This article aims to present the results of the experiences of extension in the area of Food Security
and Sovereignty, held with women attending the Philanthropic Entity Casa de Promoção
and Caminho Bezerra de Menezes, in Viçosa - MG. The actions focused on agroecological urban
agriculture and the use of food, based on participatory action methodologies. The results
show that the actions are significant to increase the quality of life of the families and a healthier
diet from the good practices of manufacturing and producing homemade food. In addition,
experiences show that women have had significant improvements in their empowerment, self-
-esteem, and quality of life in a broad perspective.
