Political and Social Economical Characterization of the Women from the Agroecological and Solidary Fair’s Circuit of Baixo Munim region, MA

The presence of women on the countryside is a reality in Brazil, the triple working areas that
they are submitted to, not usually recognized. The main reason is the patriarchy of the capitalist
system in which we are in. The fact that these women live in rural areas, doesn’t exclude them
from the possibility of being oppressed, as a matter of fact. The objective had as a theme the
political and socioeconomical characterization of the marketer women from the Baixo Munim
area - in the State of Maranhão. The main objective was characterize the political organicity
level and the recognition of the work of women on the Agroecological & Solidarity Fair of the
Circuit of Agroecological Fairs from Baixo Munim. The results also show that dry flour and
water flour are the most marketed products. The study points that the presence of the PNAE
and Fairs Circuit is important for the life of these marketers, because it provides extra income,
satisfaction, learning and the construction of new values, besides the role of agroecological
fairs, to promote a healthy diet for the consumer’s table, free of pesticides.
