According to the Brazilian legislation on organic production systems of organic products, the
indirect market of organic products demand that there be a certification of the production system
and allow producers to be conected with the Participatory Guarantee Systems – PGS to
use the organic product seal. The Association of Natural Agriculture of Campinas and Region
- ANC, was the first Participatory Conformity Assessment Organization (OPAC) to be accredited
by the Ministry of Livestock and Supply to operate like a PGS, and through follow-up on
field visits and meetings during this period, has proved to be very efficient in guaranteeing the
organic quality of products certificated by PGS. Moreover, the PGS’s close relationship with
local markets, with an increase in the number of producers and sales, as well as a perspective
for the strengthening of regional sales channels.
