market, by occupation posts in the production chain and to conserve the Socio-biodiversity
of the Brazilian rural environment. This study aimed to characterize the role of women in the
family economy and its importance in family succession. The constant observations of the Farmer’s
Fair of the municipality of Paragominas, evidenced that most of the fairgrounds are of the
feminine type, farmers of rural properties belonging to the municipality. The study was carried
out with a resident farmer known as the São João site, located approximately 7.3 km from the
center of the Paragominas Farmer Fair. The farmer interviewed is the daughter of traditional
farmers, and has been working with the land for more than 40 years. The woman within a family
of farmers is extremely important in the application and transfer of agroecological knowledge
of production, motivating the family succession, moving the most diverse economic markets.
