Use of feminism and agroecology perspectives in the women peasants empowerment in the Brazilian semiarid

Abstract

This article presents a case study of two organizations, “Casa da Mulher do Nordeste” and
“Centro Sabiá”. Both works in the semiarid context, in Pernambuco State. Despite the importance
of agroecology in the female work, the study remarks the current stage of women exclusion
and invisibility in the social life. It is necessary to better understand the causes of this
situation, highlighting the importance of the feminist perspective for the agroecology approach,
resulting in female peasant empowerment.
