Sovereignty and food security: a look at the experiences of agroextractivist women from the San Francisco settlement in Buritizeiro / MG

This article aims to present the results of experiences of agroextractivist women from the São
Francisco settlement, located in the northern region of the state of Minas Gerais, in the city
of Buritizeiros. In addition to these 10 women, who were organized in a collective production
system, extension actions were developed with a focus on developing actions to promote food
security and sovereignty through training on the process of implementing Good Manufacturing
Practices, packaging and labeling. The focus was the integral use of the fruits of the cerrado
for income generation. The methodology used for the construction of the data of this research
was based on diagnostic workshops and participant observation, being the reports and data
submitted to the analysis of the contents. The results showed that food production presented
deficiencies related to variation and diversity of products and presentation, which limited the
added value and value of the product.
