Abstract

The family agroindustry is an important strategy for the economic and social reproduction of
the family farming in the face of capitalist pressures in the countryside. The Capixaba Institute
for Research, Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (INCAPER), in partnership with
several entities, developed, between 2010 and 2014, a project for the development of family
agroindustries of dairy products of the municipality of Linhares, Espírito Santo, Brazil, with objective
of contributing to the development of family dairy agroindustries and their insertion into
local and regional markets. Courses, excursions, observation units and debates on legislation
with the participation of families were carried out. The project contributed especially to the
social, political and economic involvement of families. The work of rural extension remains in
the sense of creating commercialization spaces and social organization for family agriculture.
