Abstract

This work analyzes the practices, knowledge and perceptions of a peasant woman living in
the Monte Sião community, São Domingos do Capim - PA, regarding agroecoly showing how
the knowledge and practices of the amazonian peasants contribute to the establishment of
sustainable agroecosystems and food sovereignty. Data were collected using a non-directive
interview and a direct observation. From the analysis, it is understood that the family of peasants
has their physical and social reproduction guaranteed by family work, performed in a
harmonic way with the biophysical environment, based on the daily observations of nature that
is reflected in agroecological knowledge and practices, which allowed the establishment of a
biodiverse agroforestry system, allowing to achieve the family food sovereignty.
