Vida campesina e agroecologia na América do Sul

Abstract

This article wants to expose the experience of a new search about agroecology, considering
that is necessarily to understand the peasant reality in latin America to incorporate and disseminate
this knowledge, with the objective to provide tools for agroecology to become an instrument
of social, cultural and environmental transformation in this continent. Throughout the
year of experience, practical experience was realized with peasant farmers of different realities
throughout South America.The insertion in their life through work, routine, food and culture
allowed a deep understanding of the needs and potentialities of this class that has so much to
gain from agroecology. This work allowed, in addition to the approach to peasant realities, the
formation of a seed bank and its dissemination, the articulation among farmers, the awareness
of them, the productive technical training of the student and the perception of the potential of
traditional knowledge for the construction of this New science that we call agroecology.
