Abstract

The use of land in Brazil is due to the excessive exploitation of natural resources mainly of soil and water that are used by large landowners in the constitution of large monocultures and extensive cattle ranching. Within this theme, family agriculture and the use of Agroforestry Systems (SAFs) constitute an alternative of economic stimulus to the forest recovery with the incorporation of the arboreal component in the establishments of familiar farmers. The objective of the research was to identify the agroecological practices and species adopted by farmers in the Agrarian Reform Settlement Margarida Alves, as they contribute to a sustainable rural development perspective, to define matrices cultures within productive backyards proposal for the implementation of a SAF in the social area of the settlement.
