Challenges of agroecological transition through an agroforestry system at Sítio São João in Sorocaba - SP

At the last 40 years, family agriculture has been losing space for changes from conventional agriculture to the intensive use of agrochemicals and the advancement of business agriculture. This new format fits only interest of a few economic groups. Moreover, its cost is very high, it doesn't see the forest as an ally and it uses local resources inappropriately. According to the modernization of agriculture, agroforestry systems has appeared as an alternative to the current model, in the principles of agroecology, as a systems wich aim to increase diversity in a smaller space. On the face of it, this work describes the challenges imposed to agroecological transition through an agroforestry system, depict how agroflorestry system was implemented, how much it cost, what was the profit, and how the products of Sítio São João, located in Sorocaba, state of São Paulo, were marketed, during two years, and presents results obtained by knowledge construction's into social environment relations.
