Given the importance of the fairs for the economic dynamization of the Alagoan hinterland, as
well as the involvement of family agriculture in this context. The present work results from a
research project that aims to elucidate the profile of traders in open markets and the legitimacy
of the occupation of the space destined Farmers. From the field work we have identified the
supply of a wide variety of products, many of which are not characteristic of regional agricultural
production. This observation intended us to ascertain the participation of the fair marketers
in this legitimately peasant space. For this, we present in this work an overview of the profile of
those who present their products at the fair and the conditions offered by the municipality for
this work to take place. Therefore, we believe that agroecology is the ideological and practical
instrument for the peasants of the hinterland to play their role and establish their production
and food sovereignty.
