Abstract

The processes of agroecological transition are considered multilinear and dynamic and can be characterized at different levels, among them the rationalization of conventional management practices. In the Sertão do São Francisco, Pernambucano and Baiano, different processes of agroecological transition have emerged from collective actions, with emphasis on urban and peri-urban agroecosystems. Thus, the objective was to evaluate the socio-productive practices adopted in two community-based agroecosystems in the municipalities of Petrolina-PE and Juazeiro-BA, in a perspective of the agroecological transition. It was noted that farmers are aware of the importance of adopting ecologically based practices, perceive benefits in improving soil quality, crop health and their own quality of life, as well as using functional plants that favor the system, observe the favorable ecological interactions and perform conservation practices of the soil.
