Abstract

The people who lived in Tatuoca Island, were removed to build the Port-Industrial Complex of Suape. This change has brought transformations in their lives. The project "Leisure and rural extension in the Tatuoca community" seeked to encourage the community to value its culture and problematize the social reality. We resolved to seek reflection about self-recognition that needs to be empowered in the community, also encouraging partnership and collective organization. Workshops, meetings and immersions were developed. We celebrated the day of the women and the construction of an "Ecocozinha" of clay, element that was used in Tatuoca in the construction of the houses. We did the culmination of the activities in format of celebration and in the end we had an evaluation. We were able to perceive from the experiences that they possess knowledge of relation with the nature strong, but with the difficult accessibility, it became difficult to make the next generations receive this skills. In this sense, the challenge for the Agroecological Rural Extension is to create educational spaces that promote the valorization and transmission of local knowledge.
