Abstract

The extension project "Educational actions against the use of pesticides in family agriculture" has the objective of raising awareness and alerting about the human and environmental health impacts of the use of pesticides and the release of transgenic seeds. One of the activities is "Prose Agroecology". The target for this report was the academic community of Campus II/UEPB and family farmers of the region. The themes were: "Impacts of Transgenics for Food Safety", "History of the use of Pesticides in Brazil" and "Pesticides: impacts on food and health". The activities were developed by family farmers, representatives of associations and organizations that work with family farmers and researchers. The extension project has been achieving its objective and, at the same time, promoting Agroecology as a possibility for a better future, quality of life for rural and urban populations.
