The fair-free of the Ipanema neighborhood: characteristics of family farmers in Catalão / GO

Family farming has an important social and economic role in the country, contributing to the
development and food security of families in the countryside and in the city. In this aspect, the
main objective of the study was to characterize the socioeconomic profile of the family farmers
of the free market of the Ipanema Neighborhood in Catalão / GO and to build the productive
profile of the farmers involved. For this purpose, interviews with semi-structured questionnaires
were carried out. Of the total number of tradesmen interviewed, all are included in the Popular
Peasant Movement (MCP). However, only 5 farmers are producers, and these are those
interviewed. The products marketed by farmers are earl fruit, eggs, cassava, milk, lettuce, jiló,
cabbage, pod, squash, chuchu, tomato, banana, among others. The economic and consumer
issues go hand in hand, thus contributing to Local development and a better quality of life for
these farmers.
