Amazon Agricultural system: challenges and possibilities

Abstract

The present essay, resulting from studies and observations of the authors, all linked to research
and teaching on the food sector, aims to reflect on the challenges and emergency possibilities of
a more autonomous and locally based Agrifood System in the State of Amazon. Therefore, the
hegemonic economic model is problematized, so that it can then present propositions aiming at
greater autonomization and valorization of local potentialities, in which context some examples
of procedures different from those that are verified in conventional production are presented.
