Abstract

Over the years, the diversity of species cultivated by family farmers in Confresa has significantly
reduced, putting at risk the production and feeding of the family. In this way, the objective
was to identify what were these losses as well as the reasons for such, in a project of settlement
in the municipality. The research was developed between November 2016 and January
2017, using qualitative descriptive methodology with 64 families selected by lot, using a semi-
-structured questionnaire. After the research, a database was elaborated, where the pertinent
analyzes were made. Despite developing crops on the farms, 76.56% of the farmers stopped
producing some species. From the point of view of family farming this fact is bad, since when it
stops producing, the farmer needs to acquire these products in the city, damaging his income
and the quality of the family food.
