Abstract

Fundos de Pasto are traditional communities that live in the semiarid state of Bahia, Brazil.
According to studies, documents and reports from leaderships, these communities have historically
had little access to public policies and suffer due to conflicts that threaten their territories
and way of life. The human right to proper food and the food sovereignty of these communities
are always under threat, thereby compromising their peasant condition and social reproduction.
This article seeks to analyze the potential of the circuit of culture as a tool to reflect on the
food sovereignty of Fundo de Pasto communities. Then, I propose to use the circuit of culture
to support this debate, with a huge potential to become a continued area for intellectual and
political training, criticism, collective construction of knowledge, planning and collective action.
