The teaching-research awakening: interrelation between nutrient cycling, primary productivity and medicinal properties of basil (Ocimum basilicum) from an agroecological perspective

Understanding the processes that relate the biotic and abiotic components (energy flow, Material
cycling and primary productivity) are fundamental to preserve and / or conserve biodiversity
and all its functionality within agroecological systems. The project consisted of 5 stages:
Stage I: Preparation of the physical structure of the vegetable garden in the IFG, Aguas Lindas
Campus; Stage II: Soil preparation and planting of the species studied A; Stage III: Observations,
data collection and presentation of results; Stage IV: Elaboration of a scientific article
to be submitted to a journal; Stage V: Elaboration of a primer. The realization of the scientific
project allowed students to broaden their horizons of questions, discussions, reflections, reasoning
about the cycling of matter and its relation to primary productivity, and to learn or even
suggest means to improve the world in which we live.
