Abstract

Questioning how the capitals of agents in the agricultural sector determine their positions in the structure of the social field, the objective is to describe how the capitals of agents in the agricultural sector determine their positions in the structure of the social field of seed production in a municipality in the Brazilian semiarid region. For that, the different types of capital were considered as forms of power or forces of the agents in dispute, admitting their classification as economic, cultural and social, and its result: the symbolic power of the agents. As for the method, the work is qualitative and descriptive, using documentary and field research as a procedure, involving 14 agents interviewed during August and October 2018, and the locus of the municipality of Icó, located in the state of Ceará. It was found that there is a maintenance of the position of the agents in this field over time, showing a capital disposition aimed at the maintenance of these positions, indicating unavailability for their subversion.
