Abstract

Croton floribundus Spreng is known as capixingui in Brazil, it is a native tree plant widely used in reforestation and forest stands. The objective of this work was to carry out a health evaluation on capinxigui seeds (Croton floribundus), regarding different conditions for the seed health test, using the filter paper method, with and without disinfestation, and the potato-dextrose-agar medium. (PDA), the latter at 15 oC and 25 oC, mainly aimed at the detection of fungi. There was the presence of storage and phytopathogenic fungi on both substrates. The incidence of Fusarium sp. and unidentified bacteria were found only in the PDA culture medium. Studies on the pathogenicity of these microorganisms to culture are necessary. In general, the filter paper method without disinfestation was the most suitable for detecting a greater number of fungal genera in Croton floribundus seeds.
